Last monday (while tinkering around in the garage) I deceided to replace the "original" clutch cable. Previous owner just used to lube it, and pull wasn't so bad. So I figured what the hey...!
After removing the gas tank (all of about 30 seconds on a GS),another 50 minutes to remove an install cable, WOW,what a difference!!! And adjustment of cable and lever, was no problem, very easy. Bike had 41,600+ miles on that cable, not bad...eh? Newer cables require no lubrication, cable has some sort of clear plastic sheathing molded on it. (Anything to keep this air head forum moving)

One of the first things I did was to replace every cable & rubber boot on the Purp. Well worth the relatively small investment. I kept the working old ones as quick replacements... just in case.

I did just the same. Gonna use it as an on board spare
