hi everyone,
i was wondering if anyone has attended Oilhead Tech sessions at past rallies and what your experience has been.
the reason i'm asking is because i am due for my 12k service on my '02 r1150r and i've been planning on doing the 12k service myself. i've been reading a lot of posts and articles, mostly regarding TB sync and valve adjustments and was initially planning on doing the service myself since the bike has 12,200 miles on it. but, since i've never done it before i started to wonder if it would be best for me to wait until after attending the Oilhead Tech session at the rally in the hopes i'll be more up to speed on doing the service. the downside is, by the time i'm back from the rally i'll likely have 14k on the bike. the fluids are good til then as the oil was just changed and all fluids were changed at 8,500 miles but the valve adjustment and TB sync will be past due if i choose to wait. best case scenario would be if there were a demonstration on the valve adjustment and TB sync but from the looks of the schedule, it appears to be more discussion than demonstration.
any opinions as to whether i should do it now, by myself and on schedule or wait until after the rally to do the service late but hopefully more familiar with the procedures?
thanks for your input! jason
