When I change my cables should I lube the cable or just the ends of the cables?(1997 R1100RT)

Just grease the ends of the cables. The inside is teflon and will react poorly to any lube.

Jon's right, just put a little lube on the drum thingys at the ends of the cable and you'll be set.

The operative word is grease.

Check your lever/hinge assemblies for play, too. As they get worn & out of alignment, they can grab the drum end and eventually wear it off. Went through it a while ago, can't remember if a lever replacement fixed it or if I had to change out hinge parts. I broke 2 clutch cables within 3 months because I didn't know to watch for it.
