I've been wrenching on euro bikes fro thirty years, but I'm stumped.
How do one adjust the height of the brake and shift levers on a R1150R. They are way to low for me? I found the nut but can't find a way to move the screw. I must be locked in the 70's. I even tried to use the CD on R1150's.

I don't have a clue about the brake side - mine are fine height wise. On the shift side there is a little bit of adjustability.

You have to remove the top linkage sicket off the ball on the transmission lever. Find the little clip - swing the end of it outward from around the socket - pull it down out of the socket - which will then pull sideways off the ball.

Loosen the locknut and screw the threaded rod further into the bottom of the socket. This will raise the front of the shift lever a little bit. If that isn't enough you will have to get/find/make a shorter rod.

I had adjusted the rotation of my handlebars when I set the bar back (using barbacks). My brake levers were too low downward towards the front (along with the entire mechanism, buttons mirrors etc...). When I was in for service for another reason, I asked the mechanic where the tensioner nut was and he said it's hard to get at. The guy just grabbed the entire housing with his hand and rotated it back to where I wanted it. So, try that. No tools needed other than your own two hands.

This is from my collection of R1150R wrenching photos (credit goes to mechanic Rob C.). I hope this helps you.

Fred, thanks, but I couldn't find those clips on my 2002. That was what I was looking for; only a round washerlike piece was below the ball?
