How about a rally location near enough to a race track where attendees could get time on the track with professionals? I am sure there are a lot of members that would like time with a pro on a track to learn proper riding techniques.

I am not talking about racing school!!!

Greetings,

The RA rally is at a facility with a track however if you did not sign up well in advance (for a riding school) you have no chance of getting on the track.

Last year BMW was kind enough to sponsor a track day in Shannonville which was close to the Trenton rally site.

Given all the other requirements of a rally site, adding close proximity to a track would just about make the requirements impossible to meet, IMO.

Best,

In 2001 and 2002 BMW had a track day in NH FOR FREE and they gave out some cool stuff, too. I went last year and got a tape of the 2001 event. They were taping last year but no event this year. I wonder how I can get a tape of the 2002 event.

The only reason I didn't get on the track in Canada is that I just did the NH event and thought I would give someone else a chance.

It was great BMW PR and if they had some demo bikes on hand and some venders I'm sure it could have easily turned into a motel rally.

Hey, anybody want to plant a bug w/BMW Motoraad about a great place for a track day/rally?

The location is VIR (Virginia International Raceway, in Alton,VA (where??...near Danville,VA,about 40 miles north of Greensboro,NC). They have AMA Superbike races,SCCA sportscar races,WERA bike races,Vintage racing,Grand-Am races, and lots of driving schools there. They have a lot of acreage out there, with shaded camping areas and facilities for hosting a lot of people. There is 3.72 miles on the full course, with 3 other courses mixed with it. They call the place a "motorsports country club", with a clubhouse, pool, go-kart track, off-road courses, and private garages.

Nice folks run it and there are great VA and NC roads running to it. Check out www.virclub.com for more information.

Seems to be a great place for a Boxer Cup race linked with a Rally..........

Hey Rev. Willie, Count me in :thumb

What a way to rally,eh!
I do believe that this location would prove to be an attendance breaker, I mean, WHATS NOT TO LIKE HERE!!!!!:clap

Goodness comes to those who wait but, I don't wish to wait for this site to be approved for a future rally location so lets everyone ban together and bury the rally board with "WE WANT ALTON, VA.!":bliss
