So, where's next year's rally going to be? I'm trying to plan my next summer riding trips and knowing if it's going to be in the west would help... Wyoming?
(I won't tell a soul).

I doubt that I will be able to make it, but I hear there are some really great roads up there.

Never been. I want it to go back to Durango Colorado again. I used to live out there. Before I had bikes. Would love an excuse to go back.

I am doing the initial criteria looks at two different cities in Western Colorado to see if they meet what is needed...

Grand Junction has a ton of hotel rooms, as does Glenwood Springs. GS has that nice big hot pool to swim in, too. :thumb

I am looking at either Glenwood Springs... not only a pool but the new Glenwood caverns with its adventure park for kids and adults... plus i could sleep at home :ha there is a ton of other things to do from hiking to mountain biking... and the Doc Holiday bar with original glass coolers... the hot springs pool and vaper caves ... i am going to look at how many hotels rooms... should be near 2k... and a lot of RV spaces in the valley... :buds GS holds a annual Strawberries days fest that has normall a good 10k of people over a weekend...

the other is Montrose, Colorado.. it has grown big in the last couple years... Montrose has a county fair grounds that might meet the criteria

the biggest thing i have to find is a convention area that meets the vendors needs... in GS there is the new high school with its bleachers, there is two possible places to camp one that is 22 acres and a stage... though no shade... the other one is down town next to the main drag... there are a few other areas to look at a bit quiter that i have to check out...
then there is all the roads to ride in either area...

the only thing i have about Grand Junction is that i feel it is too hot in the summer and is a bit on the ratty side with resturants and other things to do.. plus it is a bit far from the good mountain roads. will keep you all informed...

Mike, per the guidelines we discussed, ALL activities must take place at one site. After trying a split venue in Charleston in 2003, the members voiced their opinions loud and clear. No more split venues for the International Rally! The Board adopted the policy that all future rally sites would be a single all inclusive site location.

That is why i still need to check out a couple other areas in both Montrose and Glenwood Springs to make sure that the activities can all happen in one locations... i would not want to even think of having a split areas... too much more complex to organize with something as large as a national rally.... will keep you informed when i can check out the other areas to see if they fit the 100 acre size and other needs.

Tell. U. Ride.

it's even got "ride" in the name.
