Always wanted to camp in the cold, well, last week my brother and I rode to the Michigan UP. Me from Southeast PA and he from Southern Ill.
Camped for a week and took day trips to Brevort, St. Ignace, Whitefish Point, Grand Marais, and Mackinac Island (by boat).
It got down to 35 the first night, then warmed up to 39 the second. Thanks to good mummy bags, long johns, and wool socks, it was fun.
Hope the picture displays OK. I'm on the right in front of the "96 1100RT.

Absolutely...the fudge was great!!!
So were the pasties (careful how you pronounce that).
We didn't see any wildlife (except for the Yoopers).

Way cool. Camping with family is always great.

Glad you enjoyed the UP! You also passed by some gorgeous riding on the way up and back, along Lakes Michigan and Huron. But you can't do it all in one trip! Nice post.

Where did you set up camp? I am thinking of a trip through the area and was looking at Gaylord as a place to spend a few days. Any recommendations on a campground or other lodging that you guys found would be appreciated…
