I'm about 6'1" and the stock windshield on my '06 1200GS is good, but I'd like better. Does anybody have advice on aftermarket ones? Wind Protection and quality are the priorities.
Thanks!
Adam

I'm 6'1' also a laminar lip works great for me on long trips. Then I take it off when I don't need it. It's a long HOT summer down here.

I use a Cee Bailey. You can get it in various heights. Mine is the tallest as I am 6-4.

Here's a thread that has a lot of windshield info:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2841

Includes info on the 1150 but the newer posts get into the 1200. The advrider.com site is a great resource for all things GS. Be careful if you stumble into 'jo mamma' it can be a bit brutal (and fun). BTW, I cut my shield down to sport screen size (I believe there is a photo on that very thread). That and the removal of the hand guards eliminated all buffeting.

Enjoy
Kermit

If you want serious wind protection the Aeroflow windscreen is recommended by many people that have tried several aftermarket products. It is big, but well designed and built and has very good installation instructions.

I just got the Touratech Windspoiler in the mail; it adds 4inches to the stock screen. It costs $91 which is less than a new windshield, although just about half the cost of some of the less expensive windshield options. And, Touratech highly recommends that you replace the plastic threaded bit on the front of the winshield; the replacement costs $30. Since it's raining and I have to go meet up with my family, I was only able to do a short test-ride with it and it seems like a bit of an improvement. It seemed a bit quieter, though there may be more wind pressure on the top of my helmet now; I'm not quite sure. I'll probably give a go again tomorrow and hope that it has in fact cured the thundering noise that I was getting around my helmet before.

Chace that's a really cool picture, :thumb does that F-117 'Stealth Fighter' come with a HUD (Heads Up Display)?

I have a Laminar Lip on my 1150GS, it takes the wind out of your face and reduces the suction (turbulance).

You will find the Givi screen with it's 2 vertical supports and 6" taller than stock the perfect fit for your height. It eliminated all buffeting and it's a bargain at $145 from:

Nothing beats an Aeroflow. Here are my two posts:

1) My post on why I bought it (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9349&highlight=aeroflow), and

2) My review after installing it. (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9663&highlight=aeroflow)

I can't take credit for that photo; it comes from the touratech website.

Under further assessment, I decided that the windshield spoiler is not for me. I am 5'8" and I'm looking right through it with the windshield all the way up. I'd rather look over the spoiler. Back to the drawing board. I think I'm going with the Givi option.

I put the Aeroflo windshield on my 1200GS, made it a whole new bike. It is wonderful. No more head buffeting, great protection and a marked reduction in fatigue after a long ride. Can't reccommend it hightly enough.
Even put one on my 1200 RT, great improvement there too. :clap
