I will be taking my '04 RT in about a week to have the headlight assy replaced under warranty for a problem that is addressed in a SB; the headlight assy. fogs up after washing the bike or any moisture for that fact.
Has anyone else had this done?
The dealer stated: The whole front end of the bike has to come apart to do the repair.
Guess I am a little freaky about all that going back together right. Apart from this problem, all is right in the world!
Any suggestions on what to double check after the repair is done?
The dealer is about a 2 hr. ride from my home.

I assume it is somewhat similar to removing the headlight assembly on my R1100S. Both side fairings, the mirrors, the windshield, and the front fairing come off first. It is quite easy to do, once you've done it once. It'd have to be a pretty bad shop to screw that up.
After they were done, I'd check all the lights, including the turn signals (loose or forgotten wiring harness) and make sure all the body panels meet as they did before. And make sure they didn't crack the windshield putting it back on.

Well the repair was completed yesterday. Seems that BMW has a paroblem with "venting " the top of the headlight assy.
The SB is supposed to address missing vent plugs (X3), in the top of the assy. to allow venting and prevent trapped moistyre.
Most of the warranty repairs have been to install these plugs, but in my case the "holes had to be drilled in the the top of the light, and the the vent plugs installed also". It appears the repair went off without a hitch.
I did also have 2 new ME- 880's installed at the same time, and as I was leaving, the dealer said; "oh, let me show you someting that happened".
He said the tire machine slipped, and gouged the rear tire rim, and as we looked at it he said, we can either paint it or replace the rim.
Duh, I said we need to replace it. I thanked him for showing that to me.
I know the 880's are a bias vs. a radial, but honestly they sure feel the same as the Z4's that were replaced.
