Sunday morning in Auburn, CA was cool and sunny and I broke camp and got ready to head home. I had breakfast with a few ADVriders and headed back to the camp to suit up. Bubba stopped by and we decided to ride together and ride at a more conservative pace that we dubbed "Daddy Pace".

We took 49 south into Sonora and made our way over to Wards Ferry Road. Wards' Ferry is one lane wide with a cliff on one side and the mountain on the other. It is a lovely twisty road but you need to take it easy just in case there is traffic coming the other way.

Here is a few shots from the descent to a bridge that crosses a finger of the Don Pedro Reservoir.

Told you the road is narrow :huh

And it has a switchback or 20

From there we dropped down Old Priest Grade into Moccasin to catch Marshes Flat Road over to 132 and then down into the central valley. I gave Bubba a tour of Turlock that was so long he thought we should ask for directions. We finally made it over to Patterson and up and over Mount Hamilton for the final leg of our ride.

there is turns in them hills - lot's of them. The start of Del Puerto Canyon Road

Good to see you, man.

I know that tiny little road. Wasn't it part of the poker run a few years ago?

Anyway, MrsK and I were out of the camp at 7:30 and were home at 9:15 yesterday. No photos, we just hoofed it down 80.

I shot some video of the English Trials at this rally. If you've never seen them, check it here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4176312475110229151

It beats the heck out of those hot dog bite events.

Very cool video, I wish I could have stayed for the trials.

Thanks for sharing. Now about the sheep?

Summer means dry season, which means the hills turn gold. Fall and winter mean rainy season, when the hills turn green. Weird, but it seems normal to me now.

On the following weekend, June 9th-12th, motorists should expect ramp and lane closures at various times throughout the weekend, and overnight closure of the entire eastbound direction (the lower deck from San Francisco to the East Bay) of the Bay Bridge. The First Street and Essex Street on-ramps will also be closed all weekend. Watch this page for more details.
