Anyone else here compose, record, or produce their own music? If so, what, where, how, and lets hear some! Analog or digital? What platforms/software?

I myself compose and record a mix of tango/jazz/raggae/funk/latin/hiphop/drum n' bass/dancehall sorts of things. I record digital and acoustic instruments then arrange, mix, tweak, and post-process using software.

Perhaps when I fix my bike I'll post some of my projects up. But I'd like to hear from you!

I'd like to hear this myself. My son's band is putting the final touches on 5 songs they wrote.

here are two projects i produced that i am happy with.
the tecnique used here is sampling, not recording.

ill find a song i like, chop it up into small and miniscule repeatable parts which carry a time sync of sorts if you do it right. then, i put additional instruments such as percussion or bass or vocals on top, then mix it, then master it.

but enough talk.

Initial-T (https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/kats/FB/initialT.mp3)
Tango + Hip-Hop-ish beat

When The Flowers Dance With Me (https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/kats/FB/flowers.mp3)
Latin jazz + Big Brass + Latin lounge + dancehall/drum n' bass

As you can see I like to mix genres. Enjoy, and if you have any comments or criticisms, i implore you, please say something. I promise you wont hurt my feelings

Best,
-Aaron

p.s. i do calm, soft projects with no percussion or bass too. depends on my mood i guess.

I used to play in some bands back in college. If you want to hear my old band, you'll have to go to Size Nine Radio (http://www.sizenine.com/radio) and patiently wait. Sooner or later it'll play something by Conspiracy A-Go-Go. That's my old band, and that's me on the bass.

I may or may not have something to do with unrestrainedhelmet (http://unrestrainedhelmet.com/)

Defenestra.com. Click "sounds". Studio recordings. Pro Tools 6, IIRC.

so how do you fit in?
this kind of stuff is not very accessable for me, but i tried:
modulating resonance is interesting, i like the deep bass sounds and all the modulation and acid sounds are cool. i would like to use this type of sound in a structured format for future projects.
W is just another word for Idiot is very entertaining :) very grungy. i really like it when it hits 1:55 and it gets that raggae synth thing going on. i started rocking it @ 2:13. good stuff. my fav.
the last 2 links are dead.

All of its really good stuff. i passed the link on to a friend.

nhlkats, really dug the sampling and composition/editing.
merlino, awesome comps and nice time-signatures!

I had a semi-pro career touring and recording in the 80s. Retired from playing in the late 90s., but here's something of mine from a few years back. http://www.adversarybubba.com/treasure.html (click on the "silverware").

Thanks. Rodent Dance (7/4 with the breaks in 6) is my composition, and Abrasive Shuffle (7/4 and 4/4) is the drummer's comp. Those are both tremendously fun tunes to play. Once you've internalized the 7/4 and don't have to think about it, you can just fly.

I can not disclose my involvement with the group.... I use Adobe Audtion on Pro Tools for my production. So lots of the loops come from Adobe pack.

I will need to tell the webteam to go check those links.

No, S9 Radio is Conspiracy A-Go-Go's only web-presence as far as I know, since CAGG broke up in 1996 and the former members and their friends and family are the only folks who give a damn.
S9 Radio is great for leaving on as background if you like all the other stuff, but much of it may not be your cup of whisky since the progammer's tastes run rather elclectic.

If you really want to hear it, I can copy a disc and mail it to you. :)
