Thanks for the info... :D
I have been debating on a new bike and I have a ten year old BMW now I bought last year as a first bike and now I want a new bike and I dont really want anything bigger then what I have (R850R) and I am not patient enough to wait for the F800 next year. I like the look of the CS and feel it should have enough power for me as a new rider. I do not want to put allot of money into my old bike cause I will never get it back. I was originally looking at the CS some time ago but went with a used, less expensive one for my first bike. I was flipping through the tv channels tonight and saw a young man hop onto a motorcycle which was a CS and I starting thinking again.

They are a great bike, my dealer lent me one to ride around on the last time I was in. I put a bunch of miles on it and it was a blast. First belt drive I had ever driven outside of a DAF car, and a MTD lawnmower...lol. I ride my wife's GSL and the CS was perhaps a little more fun for me due to the ground clearance and the riding position versus handling etc.

Happy-Trail is also a source for panniers for the F650CS.

I own a F650 CS and the bike is perfect for around town. It is fast, nimble and easy to move around in tight spaces for storage.

I replaced the softcase on the front with the BMW hard case. The BMW hard case has a sturdy gasket all around the edge and the case is waterproof. It is good for papers and a bottle of water and a camera.

Have a GIVI case on back of bike and for long trips mount the Happy-Trail panniers.

Good Luck

I bought some Givi bags years ago, over time they have migrated across three different "platforms". Right now I swap the bags between my F650 and K100RS depending on which bike I am using that day. Givi makes a mount for the R850R too.

I have Givi cases on my VFR and am real happy with them. Going to get the plate to the the Givi top case on the RT. It actually holds a helmet! as well as my work laptop!
