Carmi State park today was as clean as any Rustic campground could be. The Park crew have the place, spotless. Only saw one camper as I rode and walked around, all the roads were well maintain and smooth even after our two weeks of rain.

All the campsites are nicely sized and many offer some sense of privacy and coziness. most would be tight with five or more tents, gear, and bikes.
Some of the sites are downright nice and a few exceptional. There is a lot of open space and parking for those losers, err folks, that arrive after the race for the campsite begins, just as nice as what you will find at the Fairground Rally site in Essex Junction.

Some of the crew had concerns, one guy was worried, because his sisters, uncles, brother in law, read on some site with posts saying something about the Greatful Dead and BMW bikers planning a weekday concert, that the sewer system wouldn't take it. One of the gals at the check-in booth was going to video the scene when the bikers left for Essex Junction.

All these camping and rally options, and information in various posts, might get confusing for some Grateful Dead followers.

Does the early rally start on Sunday or Monday?
The late rally starts on Thursday? Or Wednesday if you have Trailer?
The early rally has first come first served camping unless you have early rally reservations.
Will the Enosburg McD's run out of sausage Mcmuffins?
Is the camping and concert included in the registration fee?

Oh yea, any concerns about campsite envy? :brow

Gail, no problem reserving a site. Just make up a sign and post it on the tree closest to your spot. Should say something like, "Caution, Rattlesnake Den".

Should have no problem in finding Carmi....Sign and entrance on the west side of 236,about 3 miles north of 105, 236 heads north about 3 miles west of Enosburg Falls. Amerigas propane business on the corner of 236 and 105.

Some of the backroads still have sand/gravel in areas where the heavy rains washed the shoulders, but then there are enough dirt roads around to ride if you are looking for for a predictable surface. It's likely it will be so green in Hazen's Notch that it will hurt your eyes.

Bug spray might be handy, but i wasn't bothered by any and I wondered what if anything the park used for control. The bathhouse, Nature Center area would be a great place for the bands to set up. Perhaps Park Ranger Grey Ponytail would help book the Throbulators.

And site envy, will you be concerned??

News flash, Kidz!

Per SheRidesABeemer, it is pronounced "carm EYE" and not "car MEE" as I have been saying it... Don't embarass yourselves as I did, smarten up and sound like a local!

:doh , did I say that? I must have been road weary. It's pronouned: car-my. The guy at customs told me so when I mispronounced it.

Details about our camping trip to follow.

The MOA block starts on Monday. No reservation necessary for the MOA block, but if you wanted to arrive on Sunday you would need to make a reservation with the VT Parks people for Sunday.
