Went to town today for a couple of errands. Started and stopped the bike several times in a row. Then, when I tried to start again it acted like the battery was low.

Coasted down hill, popped the clutch and started.

Then... my ABS light started flashing and wouldn't go off. Hmmmmmm..

Found a blown 1/2A fuse (didn't know they came that small) in a yellow inline fuse holder a little to the right and above the fuse box.

Stores closed. Will have to get a new one tomorrow.

Any chance that was my ABS problem? Any guess as to why it blew?

Late night wonderings.

What's the fuse attached to?
ABS usually gives out and red light comes on when battery is low.

There wasn't a fuse like that stock. Probably an add on device that your bike doesn't have anymore.
Don't fool around with a weak battery. Get a new one to avoid spending $80 on a new starter relay if it welds the contacts because of a low battery. You can use a Wesco AGM 12volt/20amp nicely in that bike, $92, or BMW's gel battery, $107. Your dealer of choice can ship one to you since they are sealed.

An excellent suggestion.

It turns out that is a fuse for the GPS power plug.

Right about the fuse.

Went ahead and ordered a battery. Going to Gunnison next month for the UN Rally and don't want problems on the road.

On the K11OG board I found instructions on how to read codes from the 3 pin connector under the seat.

ABS-I Fault Codes:
Connect the test LED (+lead to Battery + and -lead to Pin#2) ( I didn't attach a light because the instructions said K bikes didn't need on as a light on the dash shows the code (and it did for pin one))

Ignition ON.

The LED will flash a number of times ONLY if there is a fault code stored. Count these short flashes to determine the ABS fault that is stored in the ABS Control Unit.

Code Fault
1 Front Pressure Modulator
2 Rear Pressure Modulator
3 Front Wheel Speed Sensor
4 Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
5 Low Battery Voltage
6 ABS Relay in Relay Box (Not the ABS warning relay)
7 ABS Control Unit Defective
8 Possible Wheel Speed Sensor Gap Fault

Guess what, no code!!!!

However, when I start the bike up, the ABS light blinks. The triangle light is lit but not flashing. Then, when I apply the front and rear brakes, the triangle light flashes as well. It used to stay lit till both brakes had been applied then it and the ABS light would go off. If I push the ABS switch they both turn to solid red (no flashing).

BTW My volt digital meter is showing 13.1 volts.
Seems like I am missing something here. Any suggestions?

It's what the battery voltage is during cranking the engine that the ABS checks. If you have an iffy battery, one with high internal resistance (relatively), then the ABS will not set.
This may not be the problem, but see what happens with the new battery after you install it.

Bud,
Same answer as on bmwsporttouring.com

Plus, your battery voltage is much less important on your bike. You have ABS-I which is almost impervious to low voltage faults.

Mick

Thanks for the response here as well.

Don't you love it when you ask the same question in two different places and get the same answer. :D :D

At any rate, going to get the LED and check it out.

Bud

New battery solved ABS problems!

Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
