I'm in search of a mechanical cruise control for my R1100RT ('96). I'm familiar with Throttlemeister, and Bob's (didn't care for that one...besides it fell off one day!). I'm also familiar with "flip-a-lever"..not so sure about that set-up. Are there any others that will work? I used to have a very inexpensive one on a Honda, that engaged and released with a flip of your thumb. I've seen the same configuration on the web, but none that claim to fit any Beemers.

Any suggestions for other cruise controls would be appreciated or I would love to hear your oppinions about the ones I've mentioned above.

Thanks and I hope to see everyone at the Vermont Rally this summer :wave

I recommend the Kaoko Throttle Control. It is simple and complete in both form and function.

i recommend that you go to home depot and buy a big thick o-ring for $0.43 and stick it down between the grip and the bar end. the friction it creates counters the return spring on the throttle. i did this. i freakin' love it.

put a little zip tie on it, and if you need to pull it out for any reason, it's really easy.

I've even heard of people doing this with a rubber band or hair tie before as well...

i started with a hair tie, but the o-ring is far superior.

BMW sells a "Police" housing that allows you to put a throttle screw similar to the ones on airheads on Motronic 1 switch sets.

I think the housing is about $45 and the screw is about $10. We've had one on our RS for 7 or 8 years now.

If you're familiar with the Vista Cruise (that's what you're describing) then you DO WANT the flip-a-lever thingy, that's from Schneider and it fits many BMW handgrip housings and works the same way as the Vista Cruise (just internally instead of externally), although on some BMW models it isn't right at the thumb. I put one on a K75RT, that handgrip housing was all ready tapped.
