The gear indicator on my 2003 R1150RT has started to misbehave this weekend. It either shows 0 or any number, but rarely that for the gear I am actually in. Sometimes the right number comes and goes and is replaced by a zero. In second gear I sometimes see the 2 for just a few fractions of a second and then I get a zero again. Anyone had this happened to them or a friend? Could I be delaing with an bad electrical connection somewhere? Does anyone know wha wire and connection to look for?

Typically its the indicator switch on the back of the transmission. Replacing it means having to remove the swingarm. Check the connections to make sure they are ok, if so, then live with it until you have cause to pull the swingarm for other servicing (bearings, spline lube, etc).

I think Paul Glaves wrote about this in the Owner's News a few years ago. Maybe you can track it down.
