I didn't like the look of RAM mounts so I bought the Ztechnik mount from my BMW dealer along with the Garmin accessory adaptor that I bought online at CycleGadgets.com. More than enough nuts and bolts came with the both kits. It mounted very easily. When parking the bike, I have the choice of removing the GPS from the Garmin mount or removing the GPS+Garmin mount+adaptor plate from the mount. The 2720 has the new improved bright screen and is readable on the brightest of days. The touch screen also accepts inputs from my gloved finger with no problems. I bought the GPS at West Marine. They matched the price of a 2720 that was selling on the web + shipping. I just had to print off the website page. It came to $722.00 including taxes.

My wife gave me a little bit of grief for spending so much on the GPS which was part of our Alaska trip budget, but as soon as I showed her that it can find any Starbucks store in North America and give directions to it, she shut right up.

Ztechnik mount: $69.99 (http://www.techmounts.com/products/index.php?page_function=detail&product_id=98)

The Garmin motorcycle mount kit with power cord+audio out is $49.99.
The mount locks the unit very securely and you can screw lock it with a little torx screwdriver they give you. You know it isn't locked when you can see red on the closing clamp thing. I rode on some washboard dirt roads on saturday and the unit didn't budge.

The power cable stays right in place because it is locked in place by the mount. Notice the 2 clips to the right of the power cut out.. I'm wondering what that is for.. Perhaps the gps antenna accessory plugs in there??

Back of 2720. You can see where the antenna would line up with the mount above...

Hook up your GPS power to an unswitched source so you can use the unit while the bike is off to find things or look up data.

I've figured out a way to mount the Ztechnik to my K75S bars without cutting any plastic too. I'll do that next month after the new engine is in place.

Thoes are great photos! Thanks for the info. I have a '95 K1100RS, so I would have to trim the plastic dash piece to get to the handle bar. That was one location I was thinking of mounting it. The other, my first choice, is near the top of the fairing, just behind the fairing, using a cross piece, and using the existing screw holes to mount. cycle gadets sells the cross piece. Anyone else tried this?

BTW you got a great price on your GPS..I'm sure your wife will love you more for buying it when you're out on the rode looking for motel, restaurant and thoes Starbucks! :heart

Fancy! The value of my K75 goes up 33% when Garmin travels with me. :p

I run mine on the tank bag. I cut a hole on the top, put the bean bag under it and click it in.
