On the way in to work today I pulled up beside a weathered looking guy on a new R1200GS ADV at an intersection. He was wearing a chrome brain bucket style helmet, leather jacket and cowboy boots. He looked like a cruiser type of rider by his apparel. It looked like he had stolen the bike. Those darn stereotypes! I asked him, "How is it?" He said he only had 200 miles on it and it just goes thumpa thumpa.

How do you know that this encounter is not a sign of things to come? Perhaps he will never be a ATGATT type opting instead for the favorite t-shirt and leather vest complete w/bandito colors. We have only to watch and wait.

Thanks, Rod.

ATGATT = All the gear, all the time
I think it's seen that a number of "other brand" guys like to only wear their protective gear if they're going far; otherwise it's jeans a a t-shirt to look "cool".
Others of us (me, anyhow) suit up just to run down the street for some gas. Well, I've done THAT in just jeans (no riding pants), but the helmet/gloves/jacket still go on, too.

I learned the gloves part the hard way when I was younger. Ouch. Will never ride without them ever again

I'm gonna have to check mine out. Mine reminds me more an old WWII 'Radial' engine missing four unnecessary pistons.
After 40K it sounds better than new, maybe it's time to repack the muffler, NOT!
