Saturday, May 13th at 4:30 at the Colorado Springs, CO airport. Details to follow when we know them. :wow

From his daughter, Tisha:

I have been pretty bad sending updates lately...sorry!! Dad is doing great...physical therapy is tough but he is doing it when they make him. He is tolerating being up right much better, although he usually prefers to be laying down. He has truly enjoyed all of the phone calls and cards that he has received from all of his friends...they really brighten his day! Now with luck (plans will be finalized today) he will be home on Saturday May 13th at 4:30pm. Anyone that wants to show up at the Colorado Springs airport to welcome him home is invited to join in this happy moment! He will be tired but I know he would love to see your faces! Hey, if you ride a motorcycle show up on it and follow him to the hospital!!

Thank you for all of your support!!! I know that my dad (and certainly not his family) could not have made it through this "recent unpleasantness" (dad's words to describe this) without all of you!!!

Tisha

And this from his sister:

Thur. 5-4-06 10:30pm CDT~~~~Fri.5-5-06 3:30pm NZ

Well I am flying high and sure that it will only get higher. I just visited with Tony and he is wonderful...feeling good and working harder than ever to get himself ready for his flight home and to his new address in Colorado Springs. He knows that he must go to the hospital and it's for his best interest, he accepts that...maybe not easily but accepts it anyway.
The pool was closed today and he did therapy in his room. He was able to set himself up and get his feet over the side of the bed without assistance.........wow.......he must have really worked for that. I am so proud of him. His treat was they put in wheel chair and he got taken to the coffee shop, he and Ann Marie visited there. While they were there he saw Chris, policeman, come in and she got him to come and join them. Then she let him take Tony outside and enjoy the outdoors. Said it was a lovely day there and he really enjoyed that.Chris was bring him shave cream, he's been shaving with soap.
He told the Dr. today that he intends to get on with his life as he knows it and as soon as possible. He is really thinking right now, clear head and all.
He told me to tell Lee that he put off roofing his house....Lee was glad of that. So that is now a later project. They got a kick out of that at the hospital and couldn't quite believe he was going to do it anyway. They should know by now how he is.
From what he told me the plans have been finalized for him to come home. This has been a long time coming and we are thrilled. Jeff and Matt will get there the 10th/11th. They will spend time with Ann Marie on the 12th and she will show them how they can help him to move and adjust to the plane ride home. Then the early morning of the 13th. they will have a rental van and drive to Christchurch, board the plane for LA and then in LA will change planes heading for Colorado Springs. An ambulance will be waiting to take him to hospital.
He told me he has been so Blessed with so much love and outpouring of well wishes that it just amazes him. He doesn't know where all that comes from. He has touched so many lives in his life that it is all coming back to him, when he needs it.
I can't believe how much lighter my heart feels tonight and it's such a pleasure to wrote this update to you. Thank you again and again and again for all that you have done. The love, support, and Many, Many Prayers.
God Bless You All,
Donna

My husband and I had the good fortune to be able to join Tony’s family and friends at the Colorado Springs Airport on Saturday to welcome him home. It was truly wonderful to see his smiling face again. Many thanks to Voni for coordinating the updates.

really sMiling now

from Donna:

The day is drawing near the Tony will be released from the rehab and get to go home. He is so very happy and yet apprehensive about going home. He has learned so much about taking care of himself there, learning to walk there, and now he goes home and does everything carry over to home. Well, yes it does maybe with a few changes but they will all work. He wonders about those type of things.
Tues. they go to his house for on site investigation of what he needs and what he needs to learn for home. Which door is best to go in and has the most type of things he needs....rails on steps and those type of things. They will be able to tell him what he needs at home and where to obtain them. So we will have things to do when we get there.
Wed. Elaine and I will leave here, we will take Amtrak from Galesburg,IL to Denver, CO and then bus to CO. Springs. We are looking forward to our new journey also. Tony's family will pick us up at the station and then we will go to the hospital, get him and go to his house......he said it's been so long since I've seen my house. It will be great for him to get home.......Praise the Lord for all he does for all of us.
Tony still says that he pretty sure that he will have to have more surgery on his right leg for the calcium deposits in his leg and then also more on his left shoulder. He doesn't have any idea when those will take place but does seem to think they will happen. Little by little he is getting so much better and those are just more hills to climb to make him as well as possible. He will make this grade to the top!
Have a good evening and God Bless You All,
Donna

Time for an update from Tony's sister. I LOVE this picture.

I just tried to call Tony to see how his day went and no answer....but he has been having a very good week and has accomplished many things with strengthen his leg and arm. They are working him very hard and he goes with the flow comes home rest and takes Aleve to help.
The attached picture is of Tony dreaming of the day he will ride this bike.....one day he will......I know that to be true.
They are working hard on his shoulder to get some more movement and strength in it and he says he has been able to do things that he hadn't for a while so guess that is working. He just beams....over the phone.....when he tells me what all they have done at therapy.
Sometime now he goes for 2 hour stints and that really gets him busy and very tired when he gets home. He has set goals for himself and intends to try his best to get them done in the amount of time he has set.
Next July our family will be going to North Carolina and he intends to ride his motorcycle .....says it may take him longer but he will make it.....
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
God Bless All of You!
