I have a friend interested in the K1200LT. The power centerstand is an attractive feature for him because he injured his shoulder last year. When did the power centerstand become available on the LT?

05 is correct, just an FYI there have been some reports of these units starting to leak brake fluid so be sure to check them out. Should be under warranty.

Yep, the 2005 has it and it works really neat. Even two up. I have a 2001KLT, but heaving the beast is really not an issue for me. Some, as your friend would benefit for sure. I really laughed when I first heard of this electric stand! After demo'ing one, it seemed like a quite nice feature. I'm not sure about fluid leaks. I thought it was a fluid free system. Maybe it is hydraulic/electric driven. Anyhow, to use it, one does not get off bike(even two up). Just push button(I think its the starter button) and up you go....

I had an 05 LT and really liked the feature, as loaded with camping gear the beast is a handfull. I often had to perform the center stand 'ballet' for other riders as they couldn't believe their eyes. :laugh
Never had any issues even after 26K miles.

I don't know what the deal is, but my buddy is looking at two LTs. Both owners are moving to Adentures. What is going on here? Did I not get the memo to sell what I have an buy an Adventure?

I went from GS to KLT! Almost entirely GS's in my past and had to try BIG road bike. 4 years now and I am ready to go back to offroad, too. Of course, many GS'ers never go off road!

I guess not. :D :D
If I could have afforded two bikes I would have kept the LT. However I missed out on so much off road stuff going to Alaska last year that it was time to switch. I like the LT and if ever I win the lottery, I'll get another. It is a sweet machine.
