Just changed my oil in KLT. No leaks before. BMW synthetic has been used for some time, including this time. Leaks now, after oil change in the motor(right side) just under engine cover(crankcase cover). More specific; Just under the crank cover, towards the "back", there is a parralel to the ground split in the case. Not a crack, but where the engine apparently comes apart. Its a tiny(About an inch exposed here) split in the case. It leaks enough to spot ground.Hmmmmmm. Just wondering, anybody had this one raise its ugly head? FYI; 70000 miles,2001KLT. It is motor oil. It is not rear main, because the holes in case under the clutch area are dry! This described area is about mid motor(top to bottom)I know its coming through this split in the case, but how to fix easily is a big question???It actually blows tiny little oil bubbles from this split in case! Could there be a crankcase ventilation problem? Does not seem likely, imo. I'm an old R wrench with lots of wrenching time, but new to K's. (4 years now) Thanx, Randy
Randy, try doing a little looking around at this site. www.bmwlt.com
There are some very knowledgeable LT folks there.

Resealing that shouldn't be a problem. Pull the cover off, thoroughly clean everything, including any old sealant applied at the seam, and replace it with a new cover gasket and a smear of sealant on every seam (not all the way round). Problem should be gone.

Thanx, but the cover is not the leaker here! The seam leaking is a split in the engine cases, very near to the crank cover. I have sealed it with some high temp engine sealant. I just applied some to the external engine over the split, for now. I've not ridden it for over a day now, to give the seal a good cure time. I did an aggressive cleaning of the area before applying sealant. It is about an inch long patch. We'll see.....There appears to be no other way without motor disassembly, arggg. I'll let all know how my fix lasts...Thanx,Randy13233
