Need a new mirror I think. One of the snap in plastic thingy holding the wires broke while putting mirror back on. Would anyone know where I may find a replacement or solution to this problem (other than stealership)? Bike is Basalt Grey.

Thanks,

Guy

The mirrors seem fragile, don't they? I'll bet pricey, too. Mine has not broken, like yours. I don't take them off frequently, but thanks for headsup. These things come apart somehow; the glass part of mirror comes out. I've seen it at my BMW dealer quite some time ago. If you could figure this out, you may be able to fix the part that broke with some hardware from another source. You have a really good hardware store?

on the LT wb site a guy drilled holes on both sides of the crack and used monofilament to stich it together and glued it
just gluing it won't hold

Actually, that whole mounting base part is replaceable, and dirt cheap. I think I paid $19 in black a few years back, its probably a bit more if chromed. Check the Max BMW site.

"Stealership", I like that! I bought my LT used a couple of years ago with no knowledge about BMW's. Did not know the mirrors were brake aways and I bumped into it in the garage...bang...to the floor it went and the fiberglass trim broke. Was going to cost hundreds to replace...what crap! I now :p :p have them ty-rapped inside to keep them on (rather than the stealership solution of an expensive wire). I keep the broken fiberglass from rattling by using 4 inch wide aluminium duct tape. A piece on both sides just to balance it out. What I really love about this (being an old Harley Rat bike rider) is all the comotion it causes. MY BIKE ISN'T PERFECT..OH MY ! I tell the obsessive compulsives that get upset that they are "bandaids" and if you ain't got a bandaid on your bike you just aren't riding enough. :p :stick :D
