As I was riding in the rain this morning for a period of about 22 minutes I had the clock, speedometer, tach, trip and odometer freeze.
Tach at about 5500 speedo at 85 or was it 90.
I was riding in the rain. Turn signals, flashers, horn, headlights all worked. Tried kill switch while rolling along it worked too. Turned key off and on but
things stayed frozen. Went to 1st rest stop on I-57. It wasn't until I called the previous owner and I guess it was 5 to 10 minutes of the ignition being off that everything reset? itself. Short hop (300 miles) home everything ran fine at 70 to 90 mph. The stated mileage is appx 25 miles less than it should be, so was the trip meter.
What could have made things freeze? Previous owner said this never happened to him.
Any suggestions?
Thanks. Bob

It's all electronic, so you must have gotten some water in (a) connection. If you are a do it yourselfer, find the plug that goes to your instrument panel and take (snap) it apart and add some 'dilectric' grease. It's up under the tank.
Or, take it in to the dealer and tell them about your 'Twilight Zone' experience.
Otherwise I don't know what would have caused that?

Well Bob I would humbly suggest that any questions that you have regarding F650's of any kind, you go to the FAQ section of F650.com. The folks there are pure genius when it comes to this stuff, there is an article about anything imagineable and guess what...your exact problem is amongst the listings...and here is the link...drum roll please...

Unless you are a massochist be sure to always check the FAQ before posting a question in that site...they eat their young...lol. Just kidding, although they will always ask that question of you...did you check the FAQ? Go and look around on the site and enjoy,a great bunch of folks that have done some extremely detailed work to compile the data...if you are keeping the bike you might think of joining that club, I got my membership value the very first time I did not have to go to the dealer.
Good luck Bob,
Andy
