Dear – Friends of Motorcycling

We are currently supporting legislation in the U.S. Congress that will end health-insurance discrimination against motorcyclists once-and-for-all. I hope that you will be able to relay to me your story if you, or someone you know, was denied health-care payments due to a motorcycle-related injury. I am particularly interested in cases that fall outside the employer-provided health care plans, meaning those cases affecting the self-insured.

Currently, U.S. law states that while an employer cannot exclude you from health-care coverage, they can deny you medical reimbursement payments due to the fact that the injury happened on a motorcycle. The purpose of the legislation we support is to end this discrimination and allow riders to get the medical payments necessary to them under their given medical plans.

When enough of the members decide it is important. The AMA only acts on what its members ask it to do.

I have already seen this thread floating around for a while. Enough of us complained at work about it that they changed the rule and now cover motorcycles IF you are wearing a helmet.

You got me there and I apologize. I was just answering one cute answer with another (I'm Scots/Irish) but I can see that's not wise and I learned something. But clearly this has nothing to do with me. This very important issue speaks for itself.

Define what you mean by lane sharing please.

Lane sharing is when a motorcycle sneaks in between two cars in traffic, typically below 25MPH for the speed of traffic. It allows for the motorcycles to keep moving while cars are stuck. It is only not illegal in one state in the US, California.

Being able to lane split would be great in almost every city with a rush hour.
