Several years ago I had what I was told was a factory service manual for my 1972 R75/5. It was about 8" X 11" with a blue cover and the BMW logo in black. I looked for it last year when I started a rebuild of the forks and couldn't find it. I ended up buying one of the mass market copies but it wasn't as detailed.
I have had to change my dealer after the owner retired.
I asked at my new local dealer and was told that it is no longer available. My questions are : Are they still available? Who sells them?
Thank You for any help.

The factory ones are probably "near" to imposssible to get, but others still exist, like Clymers, etc.. Maybe not as good, but still good! Haines is another I think making the book. The older beemers are sooooo simple, almost like working on an old tractor. I have both hanging around here.

Try eBay. For some reason there are CDs full of BMW "manuals" and all of them seem to come from England. Not sure of all the legal stuff but the CDs are what they purport to be.

Just print out the pages as you need them and pitch them after the job is done.

Good luck.

I used the link supplied by lkchris and ordered the manual.
Thank you for the information.

I just wanted to thank lkchris again. The manual for my R75/5 arrived in the mail and is the same as the one I got in 1974.

Lots of good /5-6 know-how at Duane Ausherman's site (http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/index.htm).
