From California here! Not sure which bike to ride as yet; R100/7 of my much newer KLT. My R is Vermont veteran in '78 at Rutland. You remember? Be kind of cool to ride same bike after 28 years! I've got about an 8000 loop, at least planned. Jeff D., I have a daughter "Beemerphile in the making"and she is in the US Navy as one of their future pilots. At 23 now, she will be moving to Tucson soon, as a student at University of AZ., in their Aerospace Engineering program. Smart kid! She has a ton of BMW passenger miles and soon a BMW of her own, I hope. Maybe you can meet her someday, Living in the same local.... Give her some friendly Beemer advice. She's heard it all from me, but another wouldn't hurt, Yes? Jessica is attending the school this fall and a really swell young adult. Full time Navy student in their officer program. She has been promoted from enlisted ranks. Happy Trails...Randy 13233 Thanx

I'm pretty damn sure I'm IN, I have (want) to take four-weeks off from work to do this right (Peaks of America Tour - TransCanada = home). It's all a matter of timing.
I have an alternate plan for the Mrs's too if she doesn't want to ride the whole thing. She can get on the Train (Eastbound) and I'll pick her up along the way. She can fly home at the end. (But I don't know why she'd want to miss all the scenic stuff in between).
I think I'll be in Vermont :thumb

If you want to come down here or invite me up there, I can help you with the moto lights. Or if you go to to Solstice at Loraz's. Since Manic Mechanic was nice enough to help me, I know how to do it now.

Thank you! I would love to do it at the Solstice, because I remember watching at least part of your installation. I still haven't taken any of the Tupperware off the thing!
As much fun as the Uly is, the RT is more comfortable on a long day, especially because of the wind protection and relative quiet behind the windshield. That's why I'm favoring the RT for the RUT, if we do a nice ride on Saturday.

I love Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail! You staying there at the Silver Dart, as shown in your link? It is fine, and so is the restaurant there.
There is a national park at the north end that is nice, and I always tray to stay up toward the north end of things. Whenever I go to the Cabot Trail, I ALWAYS go to Cheticamp and eat dinner at The Harbor restaurant. Not fancy, but a wonderful place on the edge of a west facing cliff overlooking the water. Beautiful at sunset. And, the food is an outstanding value there. Some of what they sell will have been caught locally the day you eat it. Tough to beat that. :thumb

After everything that's happened over the last couple weeks, (namely the untimely passing of Garth) I'm chosing to 'Live' just a little extra this summer.
I dropped a leave request today at work for 136-hours of leave, or roughly 3 1/2 weeks.
I'll be in Vermont, I'll also be in Idaho, Colorado and all kinds of places in between. Then I'm going to Halifax and bustin' a big one to get back to Seattle through Canada.
I hope to see many of you along the way. I can't say that I'll be a good 'partner' along the way, the Mrs's is going along (as of now) and we are going to Zig and Zag our way between each of the rallies. She may ride the train some, or not, she may fly home, or not. We will probably get to 'Ol Miss and turn south along the GRR down to Graceland, TN and then over to Tellico Plains and up the BRP, or we may just point and shoot our way from here to there without a plan.
We'll camp, hotel it, and if need be take some of you up on the Anon book hospitality.
It would be great if any other Westcoaster's want to ride along, some, parts or the whole way.
This tour is not only something that (we) have wanted to do, but something that I want to do now more than ever. It's going to be dedicated 'In Memory of YB in IN' so look for what ever I can find to affix to my bike. Probably a tail rack flag (Ensign) or something on the panniers.
We'll see you all in Vermont and along the way. :buds

I have plans to make it to the National this year. I have been on the sidelines for a few years but have just joined BMWMOA and am ready to ride. Living in Lincoln, Nebraska, I'm a flatlander. It always seems to take a days travel to get to some quality riding. The ride to Vermont will be one of my lifes greatest adventures. My wife and I went to "Top of the Rookies" in Paonia, CO last year, my first time in the mountains on the RT where I found the true
potential of this machine. What a Blast!

Vermont Maps in preparation for the MOA Rally are at MileageSlaves.com and NOW fabulous maps of 12 great riding circuits around Boise courtesy of the RA and the Idaho STARS program. These maps will print "tank bag size" and can be found at www.MileageSlaves.com/roads.htm As well have you registered yet for the annual mileage "contest"? New member, and this will be my very first rally and first long trip, I will do the in-tire peak tour, Boise, Colorado, then Vermont. I will hit all three rallies and I will get a pic of my BMW next to the statue of liberty in new york.
Longest trip so far one way has been 700 miles.
I will do tons of planning, and will take my time to enjoy this, at age 36 and to do this will be one of the top things in my life I have wanted to accomplish.
I will miss my family while on this trip, but they will be with me the in-tire way as I will have their picture on the dash.
By the time I get done with this trip, I should log in over 6000 miles on my 2002 BMW R 1150 RT.
Everyday I get closer and closer to the date of leaving its gonna be hard.

Hey that Sherpa Mayberry is a great gig.
I saw his setup in Georgia and it looked very comfortable and well organized.
I really like the camping option because then the nocturnal festivities can be fully experienced. If you don't want to carry your own stuff it is a great deal. Plus his tents are on the large size for what I would carry on my bike, plus you get an air mattress.
I also have some pretty good info that the Sherpa camp will be in a nice spot at our rally. If he has not sold out yet he will so if you are lurking on this thread and have an interest you should book now.

Oh yeah. There's room, and we'll try to have plenty of ice and stuff in the cooler.
STRESS and I are definitely in!!!!! And, we can attest to the very gracious host and hostess that Dan and Geri are after last year. They were nice to share their dinner with us in their RV after basically just meeting us. :eat I just love the Forum!!! Looking forward to seeing you guys this year!

That hurts! :doh Just because I haven't posted doesn't mean I'm not a Rounder.
Woodnsteel/RedHot - please defend us! You know we're Rounders! Remember the ride to Wisconsin in the pouring rain in upper 30 degree weather?
Admit it, Brad, you miss me! :wave

This is my first BMW event and I will be riding my first BMW. I am registered, I haven't decided if I will camp out or stay in a motel but I have paid, bought a shirt and already have a smile on my face.

New forum posting after checking periodically, contribution questionable? I've been hanging out at Chromeheads for a while as Bobs98 (trying to get my log in changed here) and have seen a couple Cruisers and Grateful Threaders.
I will be attending my first rally of any kind and am looking forward to meeting many new friends. Camping with Sherpa Mayberry, looking for ERC(?) and lots of great riding. Love the entertainment lineup.

Think of it like a State Fair for BMW motorcycles, but you get to camp there!
Trust me, a National is nothing like anything that you have ever attended before! :thumb

Well now, after Rob's selection of Pictures of Hands Raised, I would wonder why any one would want to be included in such company, with a few exceptions of course.
Unfortunatly Serena & I will be Vending at this one. Stop by our Alaska Leather's Booth and mention this Blurb and you may get a surprise!
After closing we will probably be found near the Airheads, Poverty Riders or Pirates Enclave.
If you do nothing else at the National, HAVE FUN!!

Most of the time I make a national it is because I am between employers, or consulting.
Can't come. financial reporting is a busy department the month after a quarter ends. Especially at publicly traded Bank holding company that is closing on another bank right after reporting ends. Gonna be a sad summer for riding.

Best,
I lurk when I can, been pretty busy lately and just saw this post. Thanks Rob!
I just closed the double tent reservation system this morning as I'm out of 7x9 tents. Was going to buy a bunch more from Coleman, but found out that their rain flies are too short this year, and didn't want to waste money on tents that won't hold up to say, 60 mph winds like we saw in Lima (and I don't like wet customers!).
Later this week, I'll open an option to use the 7x7 tent for two folks (smaller tent, double vs queen air mattress, but will still supply two sleeping bags, pillows, chairs, etc). Won't be much of a price break, I'll only drop the price $10 as I still have to do more work for the double occupancy.
I only have about 15 tents left, and on average, I'm close to getting one reservation a day for this event, so you can do the math....
Also, if you want to be on a waiting list for the full size double, go ahead and drop me a note at ted@sherpamayberry.com. I had a few cancel last year, so you might get lucky.
