Is it just me ...or are some of the shows on the SPEED channel rather lame?
The folks there should start a SPEED II Channel. Then all the "cool" shows like the great coverage for the F1 races, MOTOGP, and some of the 'vintage' car and bike stuff. Thennn, all the NASCAR, lame brain reality stuff can be on another channel... just think, NASCAR 24/7!!! Lets take sports for a sec, you got ESPN, ESPN II, Vintage ESPN. I think that could work for cars & bikes too, wada ya think?

As I understand, SPEED gets the majority of their revenue from NASCAR. No offense is intended to anyone here, but I personally do not enjoy NASCAR-type racing. If SPEED were to branch off a second channel, the shows that *I* tend to like would probably end up there: MotoGP, Two Wheel Tuesday, Supercross, Supermoto, and the dear departed World Rally. But it would be there, on the second channel, right alongside all the IMHO lame stuff like V-Twin TV, Biker Buildoff, Pinks, etc. That would leave SPEED (the original) for NASCAR 24/7. Not sure how SPEED II would pay their bills...

Who is doing F1 this year?

I currently do not have Speed. I was considering upgrading to get soccer coverage for the world cup and thus pick up speed in the process, or droping cable altogether.

Who is doing F1 this year? Uh.... That would be Speed.

The early races are in far different time zones so they run at midnite here with a replay later on Sunday, usually around 11 or noon.

I too wish there were less NASCAR on Speed. I do watch the RACES (not all the time but frequently), but I can't stand the rest of the coverage. I have no interest in what Kyle Busch's aunt is knitting this month or how the NASCAR wives or kids are doing with their hobbies. :p

I get Speed on DirecTV. :heart

I actually enjoy NASCAR but I agree with the weak programming on SPEED. After all, how many hours of Barrett-Jackson can anybody watch? The NASCAR programming that I watch and enjoy are things like Trackside on the Friday before the race and Inside Nextel Cup on the Monday after. I find these two shows entertaining. Two hours of programming plus the race itself works fine for me.

SPEED's motorcycle programming really doesn't interest me because it seems to be big V-twin or racing related. Corbin's Ride On, in my view, is one big commercial but if they want to buy the TV time, all the more power to them (that's how The Red Green Show first came on TV - Steve Smith bought the time and then sold the commercials himself). I would like to see more programming that speaks to the more general motorcycle riding viewers.

Regarding F1 (go Villeneuve) or ALMS or Rolex Grand-Am, there needs to be more. An extra hour of F1 coverage during the week in place of a Build or Bust re-run would be great.

So what I am saying, is I agree with you when you ask for a bigger variety in programming on SPEED. As much as I enjoy NASCAR ( go 55), there is so much more in the world of motor sports that the SPEED boys could keep us glued to the TV for weeks on end without seeing a re-run (not that we would sit there - the bikes do need to be ridden to be happy).

Just my 2 cents worth.

Forgive my ignorance.

My brother-in-law, who gets every channel on the planet and if the SETI Institute receives a message from space it is my brother-in-law that will receive it for them, said Speed did not carry F1 this year. That and the above commets lead me to think someone else might be carrying it.He has taped F1 for me in the past. I paid him with Guinness and cheese. Must not have wanted to renegotiate the deal. Who wouldn't want Guinness?

Thank you Bullit

I have been tracking F1 on Panet F1 (http://www.planetf1.com/)

Me too. Our local cable wanted a large premium to deliver a package containing SPEED, however, no package they offered contained OLN, period, end of story. My wife needs TdF coverage (that's le Tour de France, folks) and that need predates Lance's rise to deity. We're very happy with DirecTV.

All I can say is DEE-VEE-ARE.
The only thing that shows up on my playlist is F1, MotoGP, SCCA Runnoffs, Monterey Historics, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Victory by Design, and Legends of Motorsports from Speed and SuperMotard from Europe from OLN.
Sadly, WRC priced themselves out of the market this year. Maybe next year.
