I have one observation/suggestion as it relates to registering a non-member. My wife (not an MOA member) will accompany me to the rally, riding her own bike. The instructions say to complete a separate form for each bike. In order to do this I had to log in, complete my own registration, log out, log back in again a non-member, create a temporary ID and password for her, and then enter the registration site again to sign her up. Quite a cumbersome process, to say the least.

There are fields on the members' registration page for a passenger, so how 'bout adding a field for a guest on a separate bike so the registration for both can be completed in one step?

This is one case where it would have actually been easier/quicker to just make a copy of the form in the Owners News and mail them in. However, I appreciate the ability to register for the rally on-line, and I'm sure the process will evolve and become more user-friendly in the future.

Thanks,
Eric

I believe she could have registered with/on your form as a guest, even with second bike, non beemer. Guest have to be sponsored by member(I think). Your wife being a family member is no issue, for sure and probably not considered a guest, but "spouse" on the form, with her own bike. Actually, one does not even have to have a beemer to join MOA. I don't even think you have to have a bike, period! Read the by-laws real close....just a reasonable expressed interest in BMW's. If I'm wrong, I apologize/ I don't think so....Yawl have a great rally! :usa

We have looked at the registration process quite a bit, and the restraining factor is the coding of the iMis database that the MOA has purchased for this process. The Web Team is already working on improvements, so please keep those comments coming so that the team knows what the issues are.

It's done, we're both registered for the rally and very excited about attending, but it was just very cumbersome to do it online. Seems like a common thing that people will want to do and could possibly be made simpler, that's all. But maybe I'm missing something...

Eric,

Are you a club president for an MOA chartered club?

FYI: BirthDates for Passengers are not calculating age correctly for child rates.

A 1993 Birth year is errors as "does not qualify for the child rate" when the earlier page defines child rate as ages 6-15.

Thanks for the heads up I will pass it on to the office. If you were charged the wrong rate, I would recommend that you call the office on Monday and they can take care of the charges for you.

Hi Herb,

I will be happy to look into the calculation process to see what is happening. Please email me at sandeel@bmwmoa.org to better provide personalized service.

Thanks!!

I had the opportunity to work with imis database. It is quite powerful in creating user-defined fields, and entering data through the interface. However, since registration is a web-based app, you would just have to use SQL statements to call those user-defined fields. Nevertheless, I'm sure that your web/IT team already knows all this, and it's just a matter of resource & time allocation thing. :bolt

Ok I have a question and I can't figure this one on my own. I am a member and I am having a passenger for the first time ever , but also have another couple that would like to attend and they both have their own bikes ( not beemers unfortunate for them) :nyah My question is how do I go about the registration on them ?? Please help me some one as soon as possible... Thanks :thumb

To pre-register yourself and your passenger, log into your membership account (via Secure Services - last link in left hand navigation). Select 'Rally Registration' and follow along. You will be able to add your passenger during your pre-reg.

For the couple coming along, they will need to set up a non-member account seperately to pre-reg online. A bit of a pain, but this is how the database stores the info. The 'One Motorcycle per Registration Form' requirement is how Awards & Tally do their thing as well.

Should you (or they) not want to set up an account with BMW MOA, they can use the printable forms. We will still need seperate pre-reg forms for each bike. We welcome pre-registration online, by mail, by fax, or best of all... delivery in person. (It is always nice to meet fellow members here at the office.)

If you still need assistance, feel free to contact me via email.
