The Battlefield Memorial Workers Rally at Gettysburg
May 15-17, 2015
Location: Artillery Ridge Campground, 610 Taneytown Rd. (Right behind Little Round Top)
We are gathering for a weekend of riding fellowship, history, and volunteer work on the most famous of american battlefields in the Untied States.
Six months ago the BMW Motorcycle Owners Of America became stewards of the monument located on the first day's field of battle: Battery I, 1st Ohio Light Artillery which was commanded by a German soldier Hubert Dilger, and was part of the Eleventh Corps of The Army of The Potomac.
Friday afternoon/evening we will be gathering for to set up camp, perhaps take a short predinner tour of the battlefield and then go to town for dinner.
Saturday we will be at the disposal of the National Park Service Crew (our task is TBA when I call the ranger in charge and give her a number of volunteers.) after that we will be finished with our obligation to the NPS. With the time left we will do some more touring then gather Saturday night around the campfires for some traditional BMW rallying.
If you are not wishing to camp, then there are more than enough hotels and BB's to choose from to stay indoors.
