GEARS Training returns to the BMW MOA International Rally at the Utah State Fairpark. The BMW MOA Foundation's free rider training for youth ages 13-18 will take place July 12th and 13th, 2017.
Participants in GEARS Basic training will be instructed in riding techniques in the classroom and on the riding range. Participants do not need to have any experience in riding a motorcycle, and by the end of the two day program they will be riding safely and with confidence.
GEARS Advanced Bike Control is a follow-up offered to those who have completed a basic dirt bike course or a GEARS course. Participants will learn advanced bike control skills on the dirt including effective braking, controlling rear wheel skids, proficient clutch control, improved balance and traction management skills for improved bike control.
The two classes operate at the same time during the Rally and participants should choose the Basic skills class or the Advanced Bike Control option. Motorcycles will be provided and participants only need to bring riding gear including helmet, eye protection, full-finger gloves, over-the-ankle foot wear, long pants and long-sleeved shirts.
Participants can register online through July 7. A $50 deposit is required to hold a spot, but this will be refunded upon completion of the course. GEARS participants also receive entry to the 2017 Rally. Space is limited to 24 participants, however a wait list option is available during the registration process.
