The only thing we have that is as important as our motorcycles to the BMW MOA family is each other. The individuals who stand out from the crowd have earned our thanks, and our respect.

The Exemplary Service Award

This is the BMW MOA's highest honor. Recipients include those who, year after year, recruit new members, work on committees, and help BMW MOA grow in any way possible. They would also include those who never refuse when asked, take responsibility for significant projects, and those who would take the initiative to address issues whether anyone asks them or not.

A standing committee of the elected BMW MOA Board of Directors screens nominations for this award. They then present their recommendations to the Board of Directors for consideration. Recipients are announced annually at the International Rally Awards ceremony.

After over three decades of history, a "truth" is shining through: There is something "special" about the BMW MOA. No, it's not just the motorcycles, it's the riders. These are people taking care of each other and our BMW MOA family every day - without any expectation of reward. From time to time, individuals stand out as shining examples of that truth. The BMW MOA Exemplary Service Award was established to recognize carefully selected members for their contributions to the Club. This is our highest award.

Sadly, this year we present this Award posthumously.

Before Nancy Sulfstede passed away earlier this year, and for many years, she was the official bookkeeper of the Club. She effectively handled all of our accounting, keeping us in the black and within budgets, through the lean years and the good years. Her devotion to MOA shines as an example to all. Nancy was also a serious rider, and members who knew Nancy loved her very much. So, this day, on behalf of each and every member of BMW MOA, it has been my honor to present the BMW MOA Exemplary Service Award to Nancy Sulfstede.

Current Recipients are:

Deb Lower, who received her Exemplary Service Award at the BMW MOA National Rally in 2009.
