The Eastman Aluminum Camp Table works great 
with half-height Kermit chair.

The impetus for this product review came from a certain fellow who was really interested in having a place out in the woods (or in a parking lot, for that matter) for mixing his Beam and Tonics. T-Mia… you know who you are!

The Eastman Outdoors Aluminum Roll-up Table provides plenty of space for a well-stocked bar and more. It not only serves as a good place for preparing food, eating and washing dishes, you can also use it for playing cards, rebuilding carburetors, writing letters and using a laptop PC.

The table’s all metal construction makes it quite rugged. There are marginally less expensive tables available that feature particle board slats covered with plastic, but it’s clear that the brushed aluminum surface of the Eastman product will stand up better to hot stoves, camping tools, corkscrews, martini shakers and other forms of abuse.

Collapsed, the table measures 28" long x 5" diameter and packs in a heavy-duty nylon bag that features a carrying handle, a draw-string closure, and my favorite thing of all… the set-up instructions printed on a sheet of plastic that’s attached to the bag so it can’t get lost. The table weighs 8¼ lbs. While not the most compact of camping gear, the table is not a whole lot longer than many tent poles, and will easily strap across the pillion or the luggage rack. This is an ideal product for two-bike or group camping, but many would consider it a luxury for a one-up rider.

When assembled, the tabletop measures 27½ " square. It is supported with a four-leg cross-braced collapsible assembly that is 28" high. It is very comfortable to sit at with a half-height Kermit Kamp Chair, however, the cross-braces make it difficult to place your legs completely beneath the table. You can easily sit close enough to eat or work, though.

Steady and sturdy

The tabletop consists of 12 2¼" aluminum slats that are shock-corded together edge-to-edge, allowing it to collapse either by folding in accordion fashion, or rolling. I found that the accordion fold took less packing space. The ends of each slat are capped with plastic inserts so that there are no sharp edges that can catch clothing, tent fabric or your shin.

The top is kept flat with two support tubes that snap into place using four plastic clamps fixed at each corner on the underside of the table. The individual ends of these tubes then snap into the ends of the upright table legs, making for an impressively steady and sturdy surface.
