The new R 1200 GS Adventure -
for world travel and more.

It is finally here: the highly anticipated R 1200 GS Adventure. With its extensive equipment range, the predecessor model had already asserted itself amongst connoisseurs as the perfect bike for long-haul travel on-roads, dirt-roads and off-road. The R1150 GS Adventure was the only enduro bike on the market with an impressive and unsurpassed combination of agility, touring comfort, off-road capability and masculine appearance. And it is precisely these qualities which characterise the new R 1200 GS Adventure – but the new model has even more to offer the committed traveller: due to the sporty character of the current base model R 1200 GS, with its astonishing dynamic performance. With a significant increase in output (74 kW/100 hp) and torque (115 Nm). With an increased range of standard fittings as compared to the base model (incl. 33-litre fuel tank, fuel tank/engine protection bracket, stainless steel luggage bridge and much more) it is impressive in appearance – and with its aluminium luggage system (optional extra) it really generates enthusiasm for long journeys – even beyond asphalted roads. Directly from the showroom to the mountains: the new BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is the only travel enduro suitable for the long-haul specifically designed to discover new horizons.

Real globetrotters don’t make compromises. For long-haul travel they demand the very best material. With its unique character, the GS Adventure has already generated a real fan community. Many buyers of the new model will come from the camp of BMW Motorrad customers currently enjoying the competence of GS over the last 25 years. These will mainly be owners of the R 1150 GS Adventure, R 1150 GS and R 1200 GS who will appreciate the improved long-distance comfort as compared to the base model. And of course we should not forget the model climbers from the F 650 GS and those changing over from other brands.

From the competition we expect customers to trade up from the Suzuki DL 1000, Thriumph Tiger, KTM Adventure and the ones who have second thoughts about purchasing the Buell Ullyses. In addition to this the R 1200 GS Adventure offers impressive conquest potential: here we are mainly addressing riders of large travel enduros who love long-distance comfort and travel qualities combined with sporty performance figures. This power of attraction is certain to get some riders back into the saddle who have not been active motorcyclists for a while.

With its impressive appearance, the R 1200 GS Adventure aims to address target group’s passion for freedom and adventure. And let’s be honest: many will want to enjoy the powerful image of this motorcycle without going on a trip around the world tomorrow.
