At Avignon, in September 1980, BMW presented the R 80 G/S to the press. At the time, off-road motorcycles were rarely much bigger than middleweight capacity and clearly defined in their role. BMW's radical machine forced the birth of a versatile new genre.

BMW S1000RR rider wins Finnish Superbike Championship

A BMW dealer-supported team has won the 2010 Finnish Superbike Championship with its debut season using the S1000RR. The Motomarket dealership from Turku, in the southwest of the country, entered a two-rider team in this year's championship.
